Critical writing

The Maximilian and OtherFilm are calling for submissions for a component of this year's Psycho Subtropics. Submissions are sought from Sydney-based writers (or practitioners who write). Five writers will be chosen to engage with the week-long event and to produce writing at its culmination.

The week-long collaborative residency will be held at Serial Space, Sydney during 4 June - 10 June 2012. Bringing Brisbane artists and writers to Sydney, the group will work within a loose collaborative framework that considers a cultural climate similarly aligned with a literal one: hot and intense. The Maximilian will work as a written component of the event, alongside artists who work within experimental collaborative practices, to produce writing about these concerns and their outcomes.

To do this, the platform will work with five Sydney writers - connecting Sydney and Brisbane writers and practitioners to produce an outcome much more enriched than the sum of its parts. The practical outcome of this will be published through The Maximilian's online platform, along with a limited run paper publication. The event will occur just before The Maximilian's national launch, and will form a part of the platform's launch issue content.

Submission requirements: • A cover letter outlining your interest in the project • CV (up to two pages) • Three examples of previous written work
